Advances in study of porphyry molybdenum deposits
Abstract:Porphyry molybdenum deposits, the most important molybdenum resources in the wor ld, are spatially, temporally and genetically associated with porphyritic intrus ions. Based on a summarization of researches on porphyry molybdenum deposits in western Cordillera of North America and China, this paper deals with such aspect s of porphyry molybdenum deposits as their classification, co-genetic igneous rocks, mineralization and alteration characteristics, with the emphasis placed on transportation and deposition of molybdenum, characteristics of ore-forming flui ds, and sources of magmas and metals of these deposits.
