Abstract:The Chixi Fe_Cu deposit, located in Hami area, Xinjiang, is a new type deposit d iscovered in the central Tianshan Precambrian basement. This deposit is hosted within the metamorphosed submarine bimodal volcanic rocks of the Kawabulake Grou p (Pt2). Even BIF_type iron deposits (such as the Baishanquan iron deposit) an d SEDEX_type Pb_Zn_Ag deposits (such as the Yuxi silver deposit and the Xiqianlu zi Pb_Zn deposit), also hosted within the same metamorphosed strata, were discov ered many years ago, the Chixi Fe_Cu deposit is the first reported VHMS_type of Fe_Cu deposit hosted within the Kawabulake Group. The discovery of the Chixi Fe_ Cu deposit suggests a good potential for further prospecting of copper deposits in the central Tianshan region.
